“Get out and take your bastards with you!” my mother-in-law shrieked, spitting on me as

As the biting wind clawed at my skin, I took a moment to compose myself. I cradled my sons closer, feeling their tiny bodies shiver against mine. My breath trembled, but my resolve began to steel itself. I was not the helpless woman they believed me to be. I was Haven Carter, CEO and owner of the very lifeblood that fueled their luxuries and comfort. My mother-in-law’s spit was still warm on my cheek, but it was nothing compared to the fire now blazing within me.

I reached into my pocket, the cold metal of my phone a lifeline. With a single call, I could change everything. I dialed the number of my most trusted ally, James, my childhood friend and the COO of Haven Enterprises. His voice came through almost immediately, concerned and alert, as though he’d been expecting my call.

“James,” I said, my voice steady despite the chaos. “It’s time.”

There was a brief pause on the other end, just a heartbeat of surprise before his voice came back, resolute and ready. “Understood. I’ll activate the plan. Are you safe, Haven?”

I glanced down at my sons. “I will be. Just ensure everything is set for tomorrow.”

“Consider it done.”

I ended the call, my heart racing with a newfound determination. Tomorrow, the world would know the truth, and the people who had wronged me would finally understand the gravity of their mistake. They thought they could humiliate and discard me, but they were about to learn just how wrong they were.

As I stood there in the frigid night, I heard the distant hum of an approaching vehicle. The headlights pierced through the darkness, and I recognized the familiar, comforting shape of James’s SUV. He stepped out, his expression a mix of fury and compassion as he rushed to my side.
