The Interview That Almost Cost Me a Great Job..

I arrived at a job interview feeling nervous but hopeful. The manager, who would have been my direct supervisor, seemed distracted the entire time. He smirked, barely listened to my answers, and even interrupted to say, “Your former boss is a fool to let go of a woman like you! You seem too smart.” His odd behavior left me uncomfortable, but I stayed polite because I really wanted the job.

When I got home, I discovered something embarrassing—I had accidentally worn my blouse inside out, with the tag hanging out the whole time. Rushing that morning had made me overlook it, and I was mortified, wondering if it had made an already awkward interview even worse.

The next day, the company offered me the position, but I turned it down because of the manager’s unprofessional attitude. A few hours later, someone from upper management called to ask why I had declined, so I honestly explained what had happened during the interview.

To my surprise, they told me the manager had been fired, and the day of my interview had been his last day at the company. Relieved to know his behavior wasn’t representative of the workplace, I accepted the offer. Since then, I’ve never left the house without double-checking my clothes first.
