A Porch Swing Story That Will Warm Your Heart

Bert and Edna, married for 55 years, were relaxing on their porch one quiet evening, sipping tea and watching the yard.
Out of nowhere, Edna said, “Bert, let’s talk about our bucket lists.”
Bert chuckled. “At 87, my list is just ‘wake up tomorrow and find my pants.’”
Edna smiled. “No, really. Let’s each do something we’ve always wanted.”
Bert thought for a moment. “Alright… I’ve always wanted to go skydiving.”
Edna stared at him. “Skydiving? You nearly faint tying your shoes!”

Bert shrugged. “If I go, at least I’ll go flying.”
They laughed, and Edna said, “Fine. You do that. I’ll do mine.”
“What’s yours?” Bert asked.
She leaned in with a mischievous grin. “I’ve always wanted to confess something.”
Bert gulped. “Confess what?”
“You know how your recliner leaned left for 20 years?”
“Yeah, I blamed the dog!”

“That was me,” she smiled. “I jammed a spatula in it after you ruined my curtains.”
Bert gasped. “You what?!”
“And the remote that always switched to romance movies? I rigged it so you couldn’t change the channel.”
Bert stared. “You said it was haunted!”
Edna sipped her tea calmly. “Payback.”
After a pause, Bert smiled. “Well… I’ve got a confession too.”
“Oh?”

“You remember my fishing trips every Saturday?”
Edna narrowed her eyes. “You don’t fish.”
“I know,” Bert said. “I was at the bowling alley. Won four trophies.”
Edna froze. “So I threw out a fake one?!”
They burst into laughter.
From then on, Bert went skydiving, Edna got a new recliner, and every Saturday—they went bowling together. READ MORE BELOW
